About me...
My name is Raya van Lochem, designer and maker of leather bags. I graduated as an interior architect from the art academy in Maastricht. From my love for design and craftsmanship, I started sewing and making clothes for myself and my children. That passion grew into the desire to work professionally with leather.
I completed the vocational training to become a leather bag maker, which I finished with a master project. Leather is a special material to me: sustainable, pure, and full of character. After my training, I founded my own brand, Raya, in which I design and hand-make bags in my home studio.
In addition to my work as a designer, I teach at the Ambachtshuis Brabant, where I am an instructor in the vocational training for making leather bags. I am a CRKBO registered teacher.
My designs are characterized by clear lines and a timeless appearance. In each bag, my background in architecture and my love for graphic design come together.
From our own workshop
My studio is at home in Veldhoven. It is a place where I can wonderfully lose myself in the world of leather and completely immerse myself in the smell, the texture, and the craftsmanship involved. Here, the bags are made from design to final bag. The leather I use comes from Italy, is of high quality, and meets all European requirements.
